The hotel dates back to Maria Theresa's day when it served as a popular resting place for coachmen and travellers on their long journey. Now a gentle hill, the Rennerberg on which the Hotel Graml stands was very steep and difficult to cross in earlier times.

Hotel Graml is situated along Bundesstrasse 1 on the eastern edge of Salzburg near the Wallersee motorway exit.
